Spring is always a special time of year for us at BomBassic. Not only does it mark the start of warmer weather, green trees, and more badminton, but there is a special event that takes place every Spring in the southeast, Kinnection Campout. Kinnection is an intimate gathering with a strong presence in community, art, cutting-edge music, and ceremony.
Our friends at Tribal Council started the weekend event back in 2012 at a beautiful site in Westminster, SC. The first gathering was roughly 150 people who were either friends of Tribal Council or who found out about the event through their friends or word of mouth. It was a weekend where all of the attendees contributed to the art, music, workshops, discussions, and food giving it the tribal feel where everyone participates and no one is left behind. It was the first time we ever attended such a community oriented event and we felt the love and warmth as soon as we were welcomed into the forest. Not to mention, it was also our 1st performance as BomBassic! Check out the video up top to see us performing at 17:05! This was one of the greatest experiences of our lives for the both of us. Not only from performing for the first time, but also the amount of friends we made, the love we felt, and the vision of how community participation can create an unsurpassed level of happiness.
2015 will be BomBassic’s fourth year in a row performing at Kinnection. It’s exciting to see how this special event has grown every year and we’re very grateful to be apart of it. This year the event will be taking place at the legendary Deerfields camping grounds just south of Asheville. The instrumental band, Sound Tribe Sector 9 put together their own festival at Deerfields, RE:Generation, back in 2006 and 2007 which sparked the magical vibe of the grounds and drew outsiders into the beauty that this area of the country has to offer.
We’re excited to get back in the forest with the tribe for an unforgettable weekend this May. We plan on designing a very special set for Kinnection 2015, so do not miss out!
